Welcome to Wokingham Branch of the Pony ClubArea 13 Dressage Competition 30th July 2008Wokingham hosted the Area Dressage qualifier on Wednesday 30 July at Berkshire College of Agriculture. We had beautiful weather for it and I would like to thank all of you who contributed to making it a very successful day that seems to have been much enjoyed. I am pleased to say we received lots of compliments on the running of the event and the friendliness of the stewards which was very gratifying so those of you to whom this applies please give yourselves a pat on the back!!
I would like to especially thank here my husband Mike without whose help the event would not have been possible.
Thanks to the following for all your help, in some cases before, after and on the day:
Julie Browne, Vicky Bragg, Sarah Dadds, Libby Lewis, Wendy Marino, Jo Shaw, Phyllis Rowlands, Patricia Lambert, Chris Lambert, Natalie McCrady, Sara Stanton, Carol Josey, Sophie Royall, Alex Royall, Nici White, Katie White, Karen Cox, Kiran Norman, Amy Stanton, Tricia Smith, Jenny Green, Sue Macey, Clair Cheney, Zena Palmer, Michele Nightingale, Suzy Bragg, Jo Wrighton, Chris Wickham, Lesley Rew, Pete Ball, Caroline Barlow, Chris Gray , Adele and all our invited judges.
Well done to all of the members who helped as well.
To the competition itself, we were well represented with competitors throughout the day beginning with the Open Area Qualifier. We had 2 teams, with Rachel Bragg (Guiness) , Amy Lambert (Jasper), Hannah Dadds (Skimpy) and Paul Gaff (Simba) in the first team. Rachel managed a very creditable 6th place whilst Hannah did very well to be 3rd in their respective arenas. In the second team of Polly Marino (Tomba), Michelle Lambert (Woody) and Dominique Barlow Dino) Polly finished 4th in her arena and has been invited to the Pony Club Championships at Draycott, Derbyshire as an individual! Polly was unable to compete on Remy as had been planned so it was particularly nice that she had such a good result on Tomba!
In the Warm up tests Paul was delighted to come 1st in his arena whilst Rachel was 5th in hers.
In the Intermediate competition again we had Daisy Marino (Toby) flying the flag for Wokingham together with Louise Wilkinson (Pogo). Both girls had a very good result being 3rd and 5th in their respective arenas. We will have to get more of you competing at Intermediate level next year as we have the makings of a good team!
Lastly in the Novice competition we had 2 teams. We had a team of three, Madeleine Barlow (Fern), Harriet Green (Gracie), and Emma Cornwall (Roostie) who put up some good performances particularly Madeleine who finished 5th in her arena! The team of Alex Cole (Milo), Rachael Newport (Billy), Celia Marino (Galahad) and Carla Browne (Lottie) really excelled themselves however, by securing 1st place and another Championship slot in Cheshire! In their arenas they were 2nd, 5th 3rd and 3rd respectively – a splendid result. ANNUAL GYMKHANA - CHANGE OF DATE!Please note the Annual Gymkhana will now take place on Thursday 24 July at 2.30pm not Friday 25 July as previously advertised! Hickstead Qualifier and Team Show Jumping – Smiths Lawn 6 July 2008Wokingham had a very good day, despite the rain , at the above event yesterday.
Our Open team of Amy Lambert (Jasper) , Michelle Lambert (Woody), Hannah Dadds (Skimpy) and Polly Marino (Remy) jumped two rounds each of 1.10 and 1.15 and finished on a score of 8 to achieve 2nd place and thus qualify for the Pony Club competition at Hickstead on 6 August. This competition is 1.15m in the first round and the top ten then go through to the second round in Hickstead’s fabulous main arena! It’s a special experience and wish the team all the best for that. A special mention to Hannah Dadds and Skimpy who went double clear and after a jump off were placed 4th in the individual competition.
Our intermediate team of Alex Cole (Milo) , Leah McCrady (Hughie), Rachael Newport (Billy) and Sophie White ( Blue Moon) did splendidly as well and WON this competition on a score of 8. They jumped some super rounds and a special mention again to Leah McCrady for her double clear, one of only two in the entire competition, earning her equal 1st place individually.
We also had some other successes. Paige Organ was placed 1st in the 85cm and Sam Gaff and Alex Cole were placed 4th in the Pairs competition. WOKINGHAM PONY CLUB OPEN SHOW 15 JUNE 2008A very big thank you to everyone who helped either at the show or the day before setting up or clearing away at the end! It really is a team effort.
